Recovering money that is rightfully owed can be tiring and unnecessarily stressful. At One Law Solicitors, we aim to make this process as simple and cost effective for you from the outset.
Why should you pay significant costs to recover money that should have been paid in the first instance. We set out very clearly, the costs that we will charge you if you want to recovery money for unpaid invoices, which are not disputed.
Should either the claim become defended or work beyond the Judgment Stage be required, we will provide you with further advice on our charges. Our ethos is to be fair with our pricing and competitive, so we aim to provide a fixed cost for even matters that become defended.
The Debt Recovery process can be split into 4 simple stages:
- Letter Before Claim
- Issuing a County Court Claim
- Obtaining Judgment
- Enforcing the Judgment
Stage 1: Letter Before Claim

£100 – £1,000
£60 plus VAT – If recovery is successful, a fee of 5% of the amount recovered plus VAT will be charged
£1,001 – £10,000
£100 plus VAT – If recovery is successful, a fee of 5% of the amount recovered plus VAT will be charged
£10,001 – £100,000
£150 + VAT – If recovery is successful, a fee of 5% of the amount recovered plus VAT will be charged
Stage 2: Issuing a County Court Claim

£550 + VAT – If recovery is successful, a fee of 4% of the amount recovered plus VAT will be charged

Debt under £600- County Court Bailiffs
Debt over £600- High Court Enforcement Officer (Bailiffs)

If a hearing is listed, we can advise you on our costs for representing you at the hearing.

Further information about our Costs
Our fees above include the taking of your instructions and providing you with prospects of success with your case. However, you may need to instruct trace agents to locate your debtor, which if you wish for us to assist you, we can advise you of this cost.
If your case becomes complex, involves significant amounts of communication/documents from yourself or the Debtor, we reserve the right to advise you about the revision/increase to our costs.
Should the matter become defended, we will advise you on our costs of assisting you with a disputed matter. Whilst our starting hourly rate is £217 + VAT , will endeavour to agree a Fixed Fee for further work.
The Civil Procedure Rules, provide that Claimants can recover fixed costs including court fees from the Debtors should the Claim be successful therefore if the Debtor pays, you may be able to recover some of your costs.
It usually takes approximately 3 months to obtain Judgment, however this is subject to the court back log and how co-operative the Debtor is at the enforcement stage.
